High Cove was formed in August 2025 with equity commitments from private capital and management.  Our long-term investment horizon allows us to scale with patience and integrity, and build lasting value.

MEET THE TEAM

Cory Gerken

Cory serves as the Chief Executive Officer of High Cove Energy, bringing 20 years of experience with energy infrastructure with a focus on gathering, processing, fractionation, and transmission systems. Having worked across the engineering, construction, and commercial business segments, he brings with him a deep knowledge of how to successfully develop, grow and optimize midstream systems for the benefit of all stakeholders.  Prior to founding High Cove, Cory held leadership roles at Caiman Energy and Blue Racer Midstream, where he most recently served as Senior Vice President of Business Development. He began his career with Crosstex Energy and holds a Bachelor of Engineering degree in Mechanical Engineering from Vanderbilt University.

Justin Griffin

Justin serves as the President of High Cove Energy. Justin joins High Cove with more than 17 years of midstream industry experience with EnLink Midstream. He most recently led the Corporate Development group responsible for execution of the company’s growth strategy through M&A. Prior to this, he oversaw business development for EnLink, driving organic growth across the midstream value chain from wellhead gathering to gas processing to downstream market deliveries.  Justin began his career with EnLink Midstream’s predecessor, Crosstex Energy, in a variety of construction, project management, and engineering leadership roles and holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering from Texas A&M University.

Sarah Hemendinger Basu

Sarah serves as VP, Commercial for High Cove Energy.  With two decades of experience building and leading commercial strategies within the midstream sector, she has developed a reputation for fostering strong customer partnerships and advancing projects that balance reliability with growth. Sarah previously held commercial roles with Regency Energy Partners prior to joining Caiman Energy/Blue Racer Midstream in 2011, where she most recently served as Vice President of Commercial Services.   Sarah holds a B.A. from Hamilton College and a Masters in Library Science from UNT.

Dennis Hamilton

Dennis serves as VP, Finance for High Cove Energy and has over 10 years of principal investing and corporate finance experience in energy sector investments that include upstream, midstream, downstream, logistics, power, industrials, and services. Prior to High Cove Energy, Dennis worked at BP Energy Partners (BPEP), an energy private equity firm where he was responsible for sourcing, evaluating, structuring, executing and monitoring investments throughout North America across the energy value chain. Prior to BPEP, Dennis worked at Brigham Resources and began his career at Credit Suisse’s Global Energy Group in Houston, TX. Dennis is a graduate of Texas A&M University, holding a B.B.A. in Accounting and an M.S. in Finance.

Jack Lafield

Mr. Lafield is a Senior Advisor to High Cove Energy and a member of its Board.  He is the founder of Caiman Energy and Blue Racer Midstream, each of which were valued at over $2 billion.  His leadership skills and midstream expertise are unparalleled, but what sets Mr. Lafield apart is his forward-thinking vision, his entrepreneurial spirit and his passion for creating a principled company that always puts its customers and stakeholders first.  Mr. Lafield previously served as EVP of Corporate Development and Commercial Services at Crosstex Energy for more than eight years, with prior executive roles at Nagasco, Inc., Triumph Natural Gas, Lear Petroleum, and Producers Gas Company.  He began his career at Atlantic Richfield before working at Texas Oil and Gas and Delhi Gas Pipeline.  In addition to holding numerous Board positions and having received countless other accolades, Mr. Lafield holds a B.S. in Chemical Engineering from Texas A&M University and is a graduate of the Executive Program at Stanford University's School of Business.
